The Anthropic API alternative, priced side by side
Anthropic publishes per-1M rates for each tier. Those list prices are compared below with this platform's rate for the same models, along with a plain account of what changes and what a hosted gateway does not replace.
List price vs price here
The left column of each pair is the vendor’s published list price; the right is this gateway’s rate for the same model. All figures are USD per 1,000,000 tokens, read from anthropic.com/pricing on 2026-10-26.
| Model | List · in | Here · in | List · cached | Here · cached | List · out | Here · out |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Fable 5vendor: Fable 5.1 | $10.00 | $0.90 | $0.25 | $0.08 | $50.00 | $0.90 |
| Claude Opus 5.5vendor: Opus 5.5 | $4.00 | $1.40 | $0.20 | $0.14 | $20.00 | $1.40 |
List prices are what the model author charges when you buy direct. Prices here can sit below list, and that saving is structural rather than a temporary discount.
What that means per month
The same Claude Fable 5 priced across four modelled traffic shapes, at list and at the rate here. Token counts represent common production patterns rather than benchmarks.
| Workload | At list | Here | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Support chatbot100k conversations/month · 500 prompt · 300 completion tokens | $2,005 | $73.60 | 27.2× cheaper |
| Coding agent5k agent turns/month · 8k prompt · 1.5k completion tokens | $780 | $44.35 | 17.6× cheaper |
| RAG answers20k answers/month · 20k prompt with a large cached prefix | $4,575 | $393 | 11.6× cheaper |
| Batch classification1M calls/month · 200 prompt · 20 completion tokens | $3,000 | $198 | 15.2× cheaper |
The migration
Two values change. The endpoint path, request body, streaming format and error envelope do not.

});Where each one wins
Where Anthropic is the better choice
- Direct access to the newest tiers on release day, including previews.
- First-party prompt-caching controls, batch processing and workspace administration.
- A direct commercial relationship with contractual SLAs.
- Native Messages API features that a Chat Completions gateway normalises away.
Where UncensoredAI is the better choice
One key for every family
Instead of a separate integration and billing relationship per vendor, the same key reaches every model in the catalog, including the open-weight families.
No account to create
No email, password or organisation to configure. Generating a key is the entire signup, and the key is both login and credential.
Uncensored builds on the same endpoint
When a task needs a model without refusals, the first-party answer is that no such model exists. Here it is a model id, priced and billed like any other.
Predictable published rate card
Input, cached and output are published per model, so a monthly bill can be estimated before the first request rather than discovered after.
The longer version
Anthropic's pricing is transparent and its tiers are clearly differentiated, which makes this comparison unusually clean: the list price is public, the rate here is public, and the difference is visible per column in the table above.
The technical caveat is the wire format. Anthropic's native API is the Messages API, not Chat Completions. This gateway speaks Chat Completions for every model including these, so an existing Chat Completions client works unchanged — but a client written against the native Messages API would need its request shape adapted. That is a real difference and it is the one thing on this page that is not a one-line change.
The strategic difference is what a single catalog buys you. A first-party API serves one vendor's models. A gateway serves many, so the decision about which model handles which task becomes a runtime parameter rather than an architecture choice made once and paid for monthly.
The limitation is capacity: a single model route has no second fleet behind it, so a model incident is an incident here, and first-party features that live outside the inference call — caching controls, batch jobs, workspace administration — are not reimplemented. If those matter, stay direct.
Questions
- Is the API format the same as Anthropic's?
- Not exactly. Anthropic's native API is the Messages format. This gateway exposes the Chat Completions format for every model, so an existing Chat Completions client works unchanged, but a client written against the native Messages API needs its request shape adapted.
- Are the model ids the same?
- The catalog uses its own ids for every model. Check the model page for the exact string; ids are case-sensitive and must match the catalog exactly.
- Do I get prompt caching?
- Cached input tokens are billed at a separate, lower published rate when the upstream serves them from cache. The exact mechanism is upstream-controlled rather than a first-party caching control you configure.
- Can I keep using the native SDK?
- The Chat Completions SDK works directly by changing the base URL. The native Anthropic SDK targets the Messages API, so it would need adaptation rather than a URL swap.
Verdict
Move if you are already on Chat Completions, want one key across many families, or need uncensored builds beside the frontier models. Stay if you depend on the native Messages API features or first-party commercial terms.
